My four-year-old eagerly gloved his hands to serve at the homeless shelter. Each month our family serves at our local women and children’s shelter. Each month my son has begged to come. He turned four in February and I decided it was time for him to try serving others. He gleefully jumped up and down trying on the “too big” gloves and eagerly waited for his “customers” (said by him, not me).
With the salad in the bowls, he gave each woman a HUGE smile knowing he’s a big helper serving in God’s Kingdom.
Our menu: salmon patties times twelve (yes, I know huge amounts), broccoli/rice casserole, tossed salad, apple sauce. This month Manna Food Bank supplied the salmon, broccoli, rice and apple sauce. Our organization partnered providing the salad, extra casserole ingredients and salmon patty labor;)

I’m not sure who smiled more that evening, Caleb serving, the women receiving or Momma watching her son. I believe it was Jesus watching from above.
New International Version (NIV)
14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Do you and I serve like little children: eager, smiling, generous, happy and excited?
