- Saturday just happened to be our mission day with our church and I humbly got to scrub toilets. Don’t you think Jesus was preparing me for this on the same day I read the scripture below. God is so timely.
- 3-6Jesus knew that the Father had put him in complete charge of everything, that he came from God and was on his way back to God. So he got up from the supper table, set aside his robe, and put on an apron. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the feet of the disciples, drying them with his apron. When he got to Simon Peter, Peter said, “Master, you wash my feet?”
- I John 13:3-5

The Message (MSG)
I never knew this translation until I looked it up in the MSG. Jesus wore an apron (I’m sure it wasn’t a fru-fru apron like I wear), and he tied a cloth around his waste and got to work. That’s why I serve and model serving for my children. Jesus is my example. Did you catch the first sentence of John 13:3? Jesus was in charge of everything. He came from God and all things were under his feet, yet he humbled himself to serve…scrubbing feet of all things, the dirtiest of work.
I’ve always said, I would never be a podiatrist, ever. However, Jesus did, He modeled it.
I can humbly serve others or scrub a toilet today (even if it’s the one chore I hate in my own home) and teach my kids to also.
