Have you ever had a chocolate bunny smore while camping? We have now experienced frugal smores with leftover Easter bunny chocolate. My husband decided to buy .10 chocolate bunnies and jumbo marshmallows for this specifixc camping trip. Wow. The marshmallows were so huge we couldn’t toast them well enoughto get the middle warm enough. I ended up cutting them in half to get them to roast better. And the bunny? Well, it got chopped up into pieces and eaten with and without the other smore ingredients.
Mother’s Day weekend was frugal thanks to many freezer meals and one free night of camping compliments of KOA. They run specials throughout the summer. The best ones (free night) are usually at the beginning and the end of the summer, which we often take advantage of. You can click here to see their homepage and plan your own camping excusrion. We stayed in Cherokee, NC which had an indoor and outdoor pool, bouncy, hay ride, flashlight candy hunt, free pancake breakfast, outdoor movie and fishing pond. Needless to say our four kiddos enjoys KOA immensely. It’s a treat for us because it’s usually double what we pay through Passport America, which is how we save 50% off our site.
On with the freezer food. We enjoyed smores, of course. Click here for my make ahead smores box idea.
Camping can be fun and relaxing when you plan some freezer meals into the menu. Do you plan freezer meals into your camping events? Freezer meals work with summer vacations too. You can cut down on eating costs and have more fun money for other things. We’re planning our next camping trip to Pigeon Forge and the beach with more freezer food. Enjoy your summer!
