FREE Camping at Crazy Horse {Recipes}

You can’t beat free camping, especially when you have a Sleep number bed, central vacuum system, slide-outs and filet mignon. Now that’s not my typical camping, but we had a huge surprise camping one site over from my parents who do have those amenities in their new Class A camper. My nine-year-old was so surprised to see his Nannie and Papaw waiting for us he jumped out of the open window!

Because it was Thank You Weekend, all Military, Police, Fire, Nurses, EMT and Teachers camped free with your work ID. My dad is retired military and my husband is a teacher which meant totally free for us. YAY! We’ve camped at Adventure Bound before (formerly known as Crazy Horse), and had a great time. Last year we marked our calendar for this free weekend and told our family and friends about it. I’m sharing, hoping you can benefit next year. Now on with the fun and food. The new attraction was the Fun Zone, blow-up rides for kiddos and adults. My hubby and I went down a few times (sorry, no pictures).

Our menu was incredible because my parents spoiled our kids and us with steaks and all the sugar you can imagine.

I did manage to cook a little and took breakfast and lunch to my parent’s site. Here’s what we served:

Saturday omelettes (compliment of my hubby), pumpkin chocolate chip muffins (I baked ahead), orange slices, turkey bacon

Chicken Gyros with all the fixings: homemade greek dressing, salad with fresh goat cheese, homemade naan (frozen and reheated), Italian Chicken (marinated and pan seared), homefries (using mircrowaved potatoes)

Yummo was the word when we weren’t stuffing our faces. My parents served grilled steaks, salad, grilled asparagus, hamburgers and pig in the blankets for the children. Of course, we had to end Saturday night with smores. I cheated and did my shortcut smores and taught them something new.

We used their new pitch forks, I mean hot dog roasters.

Big enough to roast a hamburger, don’t ya think?

And my sweet thumb-sucking daughter was so excited, yet too tired to take her usual nap she fell asleep sitting straight up!

Once again, freezer food allows us to spend more time together! There’s a $250 gift certificate contest going on. *Until June 1st, enter Every Day for a chance to win $250 of Adventure Bound Gift Certificates valid at any of of their 10 parks. On June 2nd, Adventure Bound will randomly select the winners. Click here to enter.

Do you enjoy camping? They have cabins for non-tent campers!
