This is my other favorite recipe when I am out of honey and I have real maple syrup in my pantry. Again, it tastes very similar to Crystal’s granola on Moneysavingmom, but it uses maple syrup to replace the honey. It doesn’t clump quite as well if you like bigger chunks of granola, but it tastes about the same and it’s perfect for the same “snacky” items as the granola recipe with honey . One side note, it does make less so go ahead and double this recipe if you love granola. Enjoy.
Homemade Granola (adapted from Fitness magazine, 2008)
4 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup raw sugar (you can use white sugar if you must)
4 tablespoons maple syrup (yep, use the real and it makes a difference)
optional add ins: 1/3 cup raisins, dried cranberries, cherries, apricots-cut these with kitchen shears
1/3 cup almonds, walnuts, pecans
I add 1 tsp. cinnamon and 2 tsp. vanilla just like Granola recipe #1
Prehat oven to 325. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Transfer to a baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly toasted. Remove and stir well, bake additional 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool or serve warm if desired. Serve with milk or yogurt.
How would you eat this yummy granola?
