Here’s a frugal, yet decadent, way to say, “I love you,” on Valentine’s Day. I do this every year for my family and they are devoured. Go ahead and add these simple ingredients to your grocery list for next week and amaze your family with these microwaved beauties.
It is also a perfect way to share God’s love with loved ones, teachers, friends or co-workers. Consider boxing up four of these to surprise someone. It will be a gesture they will never forget.
- 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 3 ounces white chocolate, chopped
- 1 pound strawberries with stems (about 20), washed and dried very well
Line a cookie sheet with wax paper.
In a 1 quart microwave proof bowl, microwave semisweet chocolate on 50% power for 2 minutes, then stir. Continue microwaving for 30 seconds to 1 minute more, until chocolate is melted.
Using the strawberry hulls as handles, partially dip the strawberries into chocolate, twirling the strawberries in the chocolate to cover berries.
Place berries, hull side down, on the wax paper lined cookie sheet.
Melt the white chocolate the same way allowing it to slightly cool. Scrape into a quart size freezer bag with a rubber scraper. Push chocolate to the corner and snip corner. Pipe onto strawberries.
Refrigerate for approximately 30 minutes before serving.
Now you know one of my favorite recipes for Valentines Day? What is your favorite treat to make and deliver?
